Who are you and what is your job at Amplitude?
Hey, I’m Jérôme, I’m a gameplay developer on Endless space 2!
I’m the man with a finger in every pie in the team, as I regularly make changes or fixes to about every feature in the game.
What were you doing before you joined the studio?
Amplitude is my first job in the video games industry, and I’ve been to the same school as Meedoc, in the north of France.
So far I can tell this studio is the best one I’ve worked in *pistol fingers*
What do you like the most at Amplitude?
The people and the good atmosphere! Everyone’s very nice and we have beer in the fridge.
The ES2 team especially has a lot of deadpan humor.
What have you worked on that you're super proud of?
I have reworked and cleaned up the actions system recently (attack, blockade, etc), and it is now very reliable which is important for a system like this.
I also have worked on the Marketplace and Modding with ExplodingDragon, and both development processes went very smoothly!
What are you currently working on?
Secret diplomacy stuff for a future update, and a lot of testing/bug fixing!
What's your favorite game of all time?
I’m really fond of PDL (aka roguelites), so my favorites are probably Crypt of the Necrodancer and Spelunky.
I’ve spent way too much time in both, but can’t seem to finish CotN with a difficult character…
What’s the game you dream of creating?
Some kind of MMO Gauntlet-like where you become what killed you and can invade other player’s games as a monster!
I’ll probably start working on it at some point because I always work on a lot of personal projects.

Mega Skater Boulzor Turbo Deluxe, the sausage skateboarding game, is obviously the best and you should totally play it.
I also make some mods for Endless Space 2 but shh it’s a terribly kept secret!
What's your favorite race or character in our games?
I like the idea of Horatio, but my real favorite are the Gnashasts because they’re super cool!
Is there a funny story that happened to you at Amplitude?
Most people here call me “Choupinou”, a cutesy-ridiculous nickname.
Sometimes they forget my actual name and fail to introduce me to visitors or newcomers…
What's the most played song in your music library?
I listen to a lot of very serious songs on repeat for hours so it’s hard to tell between Ocean man by Ween, Dancing Lasha Tumbai by Verka Serduchka or SEAGULLS! (Stop It Now) by Bad lip reading.
What obscure movie would you recommend watching?
The taste of tea is my all-time favorite in this category: nice, relaxing, and extremely weird. Its successor, Funky Forest: the first contact is not as good but still nice.
