Love Thyself - A Horatio Story

Hey everybody,

Do any of you remember April 1st of last year? On that day, we briefly glimpsed perfection as we imagined a new standard in Horatio dating simulators. Back then, we honestly had no plans to follow through on it, for while we could imagine this perfect game, we could not imagine any way to truly capture the experience of dating Horatio, for who can earn his love but himself?

However, at Amplitude we always strive to listen closely to our community. And what we heard were a lot of requests for a Horatio-based experience. A LOT of them. In fact, there were so many remarks about it that they might as well have been clones, with a few remarkable exceptions.

Now, after a year of tinkering, we have finally been able to enhance a select few members of the community team to be able to deliver a true-to-vatgrown-life Horatio experience. We hope you will appreciate their great effort on your behalf, for they will never be the same… No, actually, they will forever be the same, as each other, for they have probably become Horatio. Check out some of their work below.

We can guess what you are thinking right now.

No. This is not actually an April fool’s joke. We’re serious.

Part 1 of “Love Thyself – A Horatio Story” is available now on Steam for FREE, andwe have dedicated a new forum to it.

Check back later this spring for part 2 and the exciting clone-clusion of this Horatio story!

Have fun,

The Amplitude Team.

Nicely done ! This is a great opportunity for lore creation, with a little effort there might even be a chance for adding point-and-click elements or minigames.

Can't wait to see how this continues !

This was amazing. I was skeptical at first because this is a major departure from the genre of the series, but the quality of this story is amazing. Can't wait to see what Initiate Sashimi F21 gets up to next!!!

This is great, thank you!

While that would certainly be welcome, and I agree with you on all of your statements, I don't think that it would be a good decision financially for Amplitude to make a bunch of visual novel style games unless they were to attach a price tag to them.

With that said, if Amp were to make more of these games I'd certainly support them!

I like the idea of  bunch of visual novel style games too!

Of course with a price tag, I don't even consider to ask it for free.

Many studios nowadays make the first chapter free, as a demo, and the further chapter are paid as DLC or separate games.
I am pretty fine with this approach.

Played it today, it was amazing! Not a big fan of the sci fi genre, but this one got me, maybe it was the aesthetic, the music or the plot development

maybe the three of them... Can't wait for more :DD

I'll copy the answer I gave to someone suggesting a translation in Catalan:

There are no plans to localize Love Thyself into other languages. The reason is fairly simple: it is a story-heavy game, with (at the moment) over 15000 words of story in the first part alone. Translating into other languages is comparatively very expensive, for a game that was made possible in part because, due to its very nature, it was relatively affordable to make.

Of course, a lot of what is or isn't possible with the game will depend on how popular it becomes, so let me just say this: the more friends you share it with, the more likely it is that we might translate it!

There you have it: if the game is wildly successful, we might look at getting it localized in other languages. There are ways for the community also to work on their own translations (the files are very easy to manipulate), which might be another solution.

If you do not own this game as a player of Amplitude Games, you will have failed both Amplitude and Horatio himself
