I like to take inspiration from old norse, so this name comes from "syn" and "utlendr" and could be understood as "foreign sight".

It also has two different meanings:

- Their sense of sight is physically different because of their shape

- Since they are ancient and may be always hiding in the shadows, the other races have only a limited knowledge about them. Therefore they are seen as foreigners in the galaxy.
