Hati is the first name of Hati Hróðvitnisson, son of Fenrir, a wolf from Norse mythology.

Hati translates to "Enemy" or "He Who Hates," according to my good friend google, which sounds about right to me. This race is ancient, and given their dark and mysterious nature, could represent such vague concepts like Evil, which overlaps pretty easily with "Enemy" or "Hate", even if they themselves aren't inherently evil.

Now sure, these designs sure as hell aren't canine, but I think Hati fits given that his role in mythology was to chase Máni, the personification of the moon, until the time of Ragnarok, which I'm sure ya'll are familiar with through some basic Norse mythology knowledge.

A bit plain and simple, but I think it rolls off the tongue pretty easily, and has some interesting background behind it.
