Everything begins in darkness.

Once a pre-sentient star existed. And, as is wont, in its declining year the star turned into a black hole... and a revelation. The agony was so enormous that the emitted magnetic waves - with the information on its pain encoded into them - formed self-sustaining, almost stable entities on the edge of the star's gravity well. The ones, appeared in the most supportive environment, survived and developed to carry the Agony for millenia. Once they recognized that emotion, they had only one purpose: achieve immortality by any means.

Everything begins in darkness... but they won't let themselves end in darkness. For the darkness they became.
