It's Latin for "the Hidden Ones", we think (historians) it was the name of the Roman Empire's Spies and Secret police. I just think that it's highly appropriate for a facion of ghostly clouds based around stealth and espionage. I also has a certain feel to it that makes it more fun as a name.
