BUG: Gamebreaking Cinematic Battle

Summary / Title

Watching space battle causes the game to break.


Description

When "watch" option and the battle begins, a portal will keep opening and closing from start to finish of the battle. During the battle, all flotillas will not move from their starting positions as though they're waiting for this broken portal script to end, but they will orient themselves according to the still-moving flotilla position marker. As a result of this, all their shots (excluding missiles) follow the markers as though they're still leading the opposing fleet. When the battle is over, the UI doesn't load back in after closing out the Battle Result menu. It does, however, load back in when you press System location instead of done, but any battle after that (including ground battles) are broken where it just shows a still image of that initial space battle. 


Steps to Reproduce

Unsure how to reproduce it. Happened between Turn 240-270. If I had to take a guess, probably from forcing the game to exit during a battle loading screen because it was taking longer than 10-15 minutes.

If it helps, I attached the save file to see what happens for yourselves.

1. Load the provided save.

2. There's a Riftborn and an Unfallen fleet orbiting the Unfallen homeworld. Toggle watch and initiate the battle.

The usual battle I guess?

Notes

During the loading screen for the battle, you will actually hear the portal open before you click to start. This issue usually never occurs when it comes to battles involving only small vessels.

Bottom right, behind Riftborn flotilla 3, the portal keeps opening and closing over the course of the battle. Note the elapsed time, the flotillas' position relative to the position marker, and the leading projectile shots.

  


EDIT: Found a probable cause when editing the carrier. Behind the carrier in the editing screen, there's a reoccurring portal. This might have happened after upgrading the hull. This would explain why the issue only occurred after watching battles that involved my carrier.

Yes, it is 100% reproducible on the save. Did a little testing and the bug never occurs in space battles that don't involve using the carrier so I'm assuming it has to do with the carrier hull schematic. 

Hopefully to make it a little easier to identify the cause, the bug was still there in the carrier schematic screen when loading a previous save where the hull was not upgraded.

I've encountered this bug as well.  Everything seems to work fine without the Carrier (Prime Class) ship.


Edit:


So I started a new game and went straight for the Carrier class with the Riftborn and even without upgrading the hull, the portal is still constantly appearing in the Ship Design Screen and also still screws up during battle.
