Not sure if it is a bug or just extremely bad luck/rng, but here goes

Summary / Title

5 out of 7 AI Players start in the immediate neighbourhood. In a galaxy of exceptional size.

Description

Literally the next 5 systems next to mine are home systems of an AI player. Additionally, in the 6th system the Academy is located. (see screenshots/save). With the exception of galaxy size and setting the number of AI opponents to 8 and choosing them I did not change a single thing in the settings. I specifically did not change the Empire Spawn Method, leaving it on "Standard".

Steps to Reproduce

Use settings as in attached screenshot.

Reproducibility

5/5

Expected Behavior

with a galaxy of that size, one should expect player starting locations to be somewhat... spaced out. ;-) (sorry, no native speaker)

Version

1.0.52

I've encountered much the same. The Academy was one jump away from me, and the UE homeworld was two jumps off. The clustered spawns are bothersome, because they leave vast networks of systems entirely barren on one (or more) side(s) of the map.

Hello,

This is not the intended behavior for empire positioning in the galaxy!

I'm going to check your save but that's the first time I see something like that... Does that happen often? Do you have a consistent way to reproduce the issue?

Thanks for spotting this weird generation issue, anyway :)

It's happened nearly every time to me as well. Even setting the galaxy size to "Colossal".

With all those star systems, the AI is right there next to me in nearly every game..

EDIT: The other thing I've noticed is - I always start at the outer rim of the galaxy.

Map generation and civ placement, I think, should be more like Endless Legend. You can start nearly anywhere on the world map.

Civ. spacing was generally done well in that game. It's rare to have immediate neighbors.
