Save game fails to load with NullReferenceException at end of logs

  • Summary / Title: Turn 101 save game fails to load.
  • Description: Upon loading of manual save (or autosaves nearby) the game always hangs at loading screen, but never crashes. Must manually force close the application. Log shows two instances of "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" at the end.
  • Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load the attached save game.
  • Reproducibility: 5/5
  • Expected Behavior: Game loads.
  • Version: 1.0.19

That is a completely different problem. Your save actually crashes the client, and its diag*.html errors out/exits at a different point. 

My save above does not crash the client -- and the diag ends with an internal Unity C# error that hangs the game.


If I'm understanding the post you linked, your save also is across game versions. The one I posted above is all 1.0.19, played in its entirety yesterday.

I'm at version 1.0.20 and started a new game with Horatio. Went back to load the save this morning and the game simply stalls at "Launching game" "connecting to server" text after clicking on the save. The bar goes to about 2/3rds progress and simply stalls at that point.

That's the exact same issue I'm having. Can you post your save game and the Diagnostics*.html like I did above? The diag*.html is in your Documents/Endless Space 2/Temporary Files folder. You can simply drag the files into this forum post to attach them.


I'd really like to take a look at it.

Thanks. When loading your game, I hang in the exact same manner as my game, and your diag file (not the one you posted, but the one generated after I tried to load your game) errors at the same spot. But yours is hanging on a different function: 


DepartmentOfEducation+c__IteratorB.MoveNext


While mine is hanging on:


DepartmentOfDevelopment+c__Iterator1.MoveNext


Weird.
