  • Summary: Steam cloud save sync does not work

  • Description:  Since recently, save files aren't synchronized with the steam cloud anymore, allthough the functionality is activated in-game and saves are labled as valid. After some digging in the [...]\SaveFiles\Cloud directory I realized that the files have different file extensions. Older ones end with .zip while newer ones have the .sav suffix. Further testing by renaming a .sav file to .zip resulted in a successful sync with the cloud uppon game start.

  • Steps to Reproduce:  Save a game session with activated cloud service and finish the game. You'll realize that steam does not sync the data.

  • Reproducibility: 3/3

  • Expected Behavior: Full steam cloud support

  • Version: 1.0.36

Thanks for your report guys! I tried it with the 1.0.36 but Steam cloud works well on my side ... Did you check if the option is really enabled in the save screen and the loading screen?

Both options are enabled. I did some more tests. As mentioned before, when renaming the .sav file to .zip it is synched by steam. Furthermore, wehn I then overwrite this save game it retains the zip extension and is stored in the cloud - everything fine here. Bun when I create a new save file, it gets the .sav and is not synched.

@Dagart: what extensions doe your files have?

In my case saves are .sav files, too. And steam cloud is enabled on loading and save save game.

P.S. My workaround atm is, to work with a stick, to copy the save games from one computer to the other. This works...

This issue might be caused by the recent change to save files.

Before the latest update the save file extension was .zip which cause issues with some antiviruses, Now it is .sav.

(the file contents are the same but the files just have a different name, the game still recognises .zip's)

but I wonder if the steam cloud setup has been changed to allow for the mix of existing .zip files and the new .sav files?

(just an idea of a possible cause, I don't use steam cloud myself as I have its directory synced by a third-party program)

It's exactly what I thought yesterday but it takes time to have this information confirm.

Actually, I looked to the Cloud save folder to test the issue and I didn't look at the synchronisation ...

Good diagnostic guys!
