I've noticed posts from over a year ago on Reddit regarding this issue, however I only picked the game up days ago, and it appears this bug still exists.

Twice I've tried to attack the Horatio faction in different sectors and when it comes to a ground attack, the box for choosing tactics will not progress past my opponent deciding on their strategy, which has halted my playthrough as the Vaulters. Returning to a previous save has not addressed this issue and dismissing the box will still fix the game whereby you cannot End Turn nor escape that a battle is in progress.

I am enjoying the game, but of course this is an issue that halts progress. I also wanted to bring it to the attention of the developers quickly, as other players on Steam are complaining about the same bug and talking about refunds, which means the developers may lose money from people refunding the game during a big selling period with the Steam Summer Sale.

If anyone does have workarounds that have helped them progress past this, that would be appreciated.

Same thing happening for me (I think you commented on my thread on Steam lol). I was trying to invade a pirate lair and it kept getting stuck. Even when replaying from an autosave a couple turns ago and doing the same moves I still was stuck.

Yes, that was me on Steam joining your post, lol.

Hopefully by posting this problem here also, it might catch the developers eye. 

I started again as the Vaulters, so I'll see if this bug manifests on a different playthrough, but if we're both experiencing this after buying the game through the Summer Sale, then it doesn't bode well. I also wonder if it could be specific to the Deluxe Upgrade that's part of the Endless Space 2 Collection.

Nah I only have the base game and it's still messing up for me. I don't get how a game breaking bug like this could still be in the game a year ago and now.

Do you have logs from when it happened?

There was no error message or game crash report. The game was stuck as far as the opponent would not select a strategy and it was not possible to end the turn.

If there is a way of calling up logs or code so that I can feed the developers more information, please advise, because I'm not sure how to do that.

This is happening to me too. Did you tried dismiss the battle window (right click)? This is working for me at least.

loga that are written through the whole game are located in Documents\Endless Space 2\Temporary Files

Hi Arcrom,

I've tried dismissing the window by clicking outside the box, which minimizes it and permits me to interact with other things, but the Battle Box is still technically active and waiting for that opponent to choose a strategy. However, I don't think I've tried 'right-clicking' specifically nor am I aware if it's possible to cancel the battle box away, as it seems you managed to. So I shall try and play around some more.

Thanks Numerlor, I shall look into pasting the loga into this post, as I appreciate more detail is needed before anyone can fix this bug. Cheers.

Did you tried deselect the option to watch battles (auto-resolve)? I keep this option off against pirates so can be something related.

Yeah in my situation I tried unchecking watch. However, I just started playing a game as the Unfallen and have gotten to turn 130 without anything similar happening.

I don't know if this a coincidence, but this bug happended to me when I played as Riftborn. Two of my recent Riftborn games this bug happened, but for United Empire and Sophons not.

Since you mentioned that you're playing as Unfallen nothing happended... This can be something.

Did you and Anubis500 played as Riftborn and had the bug as well?

As of yet, I have only played as the Vaulters. So this bug has affected at least three different factions. If I've understood correctly it seems to manifest later in the game as opposed to early on against your first attacks on pirates. When it's happpened to me, my box already had 'watch' turned off, but I shall try the right clicking to dismiss the box in the future.

The next time the bug crops up while I'm playing, I shall copy and paste the log file in this thread and if any of you could do the same, would be greatly appreciated, just to give the developers a chance to address the issue, see if they can get it pinned down.

Thanks for these posts guys, hopefully the developers chime in with their thoughts in the near future.

this bug still does exist in 2020 on my 1th game this happend to me on turn 213 so rip me i guess but as far as i can see its the same bug and it isnt specific to the faction you choose as i'm playing sophons and i just made my 1th real amry to get my 2nd system back from the cravers and i guess thats out of question now since I can't find a solution or workaround anywhere 

I guess you could give a try to work around this bug with the modding tools.

* Start your game with the "--enablemoddingtools" option

* Once in your game, when this bug is encountered, press "Shift + F1" 

* Switch empire to the one choosing its strategy
* Choose for him
* Once bettle resolved, switch back yo your empire

I really don't know if this will work but this is worth a try
