  • Summary / Title: Hyperfolding is tied to involuntary nomads trait and not metafolding trait. 
  • Description: When creating a custom faction using metafolding and NOT involuntary nomads trait, hyperfolding disappears from the technology tree. There is a space where hyperfolding should be. (Bottom/greatest tier of science and exploration) 
  • Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create custom faction // 2. Disable involuntary nomads, while enabling metafolding affinity trait. // 3. Check the tech tree under science and exploration.
  • Reproducibility: 5/5
  • Expected Behavior: Hyperfolding should be tied to metafolding and not involuntary nomads. This would make sense as it is a portal ability and not an argosy ability.
  • Version: V1.4.13 S5 GOLD-Public
  • Notes: The Cat of Nine Tales even mentioned here in the Steam Forum that it should be tied to metafolding. I don't know how possible it is to fix this or if there is an unofficial update/patch that i could use to play with it fixed. Would be great! Thanks!

At a first glance it wouldn't be too hard to fix, I could try my hand at it if no one else is able/willing to when I have some time. Not the most critical bug, but annoying nonetheless.

Yes, we are aware of this, but as CaptainCobbs so aptly phrased it, it's "not the most critical of bugs." We have not been able to address this yet as we have been looking into other bugs with greater impact.

Sounds good- I know its not a huge deal, Thanks for taking the time to respond! It is really my only issue that I have with the game currently, so to me it seems like a bigger deal than it is in the grand scheme. @CaptainCobs- if you want to take a look at it, would be great! Or possibly point me in the right direction and I may be able to look at it myself (if its simple enough)..

If you look under public/Simulation, you'll see files ending with DLC1 (anything relating to DLC1 is the vaulters DLC).

Try looking under SimulationDescriptor[FactionAffinity_DLC1] and FactionTraits[Affinity_DLC1]

(Pretty much anything that says faction, affinity, and DLC1 in the same filename)

OP here-
I finally got around to finding the fix.


Located in Public/Simulation/ConstructibleElement_Science[QuadrantScienceAndExploration_DLC1].xml, Line 120 (Under TechnologyDefinition Name="TechnologyDefinitionUnique11Vaulters")

The second PathPrerequisite needs to remove FactionTraitManualHomeSystem from its string. FactionTraitManualHomeSystem is marking it as "Involuntary Nomads" being required.


Any chance at getting this in a patch at some point?

Captain Cobb/Groo.. you guys are welcome to add it to BugFix.. thanks! (I know at time of this comment, it already is. )


I didn't actually go hunting to fix bugs- this was just a bug that I encountered while playing myself- so I have no idea if it is similar to the other custom traits not working. I would imagine that it might just be an issue with messed up prerequisites or misnaming or something.


I don't know if amplitude will ever get around to fixing these small bugs. One can hope though. Lol Lovely games!
