UPDATE & SOLUTION:

Wow, I am a total idiot. Turns out when I right clicked on the game in my Steam Library and looked at "Properties>General", there is a check box for enabling the Steam overlay specifically for this game. Somehow this had gotten unchecked. I ticked it, and now the overlay works in the game fine.

I hadn't realised there is universal Steam overlay setting, and one you can change for individual games. A little thing I had simply missed.

ES2 updated to version 1.5.10 today, and now I've noticed the Steam overlay no longer works in this game. The little pop-up doesn't appear when I start the game, and pressing Shift+Tab or the screenshot key does nothing.

Think this must just be for ES2, as the overlay seemed to work when I tried a different game. I've tried disabling and enabling the option in Steam Settings, and restarting my computer, but the overlay still won't work in ES2.

No problem with overlay and Shift + TAB

I'm up to date with drivers (nVidia), Steam and ES2.

Does your Steam overlay work with other games?

Hmm, well I don't think my NVIDIA drivers are up to date, so I guess I should try doing that and see what happens.

UPDATE:

I've updated my NVIDIA drivers, and the Steam overlay is still not working for ES2. (I even tried "verify game files".) It is working in my other games though, including Endless Legend.

I wonder what's happened here. Hopefully the devs can find out.
