In my current game, I got two wars running.

In the North/North West vs the Lumeris. They are Sandwiched between me and the Sophons.

Sophons has the Lumeris inside their zone of influence.

Heracles, Canis (1 turn before) Isso and Osulo conquered on this turn.

End Turn, and the magic happens.

Just to add further insult to injury, the Sophons are now mad at me for forcing them take my planets..

Meanwhile on the other side..I'm trying to snatch some uninhabited systems.

Not permitted to, due to Cold War influence..

If you look just above the Disband button, you can see the Purple influence sphere border

from the Voydani which I'm also at war with. 

The system above which is also unsettled, is also blocked from colonization.

And a fair bit earlier in the game, the Voydani settled a system inside my influence zone.
