AI moving ships too quickly

I'm wondering if someone can explain how Cravers managed to move their fleet into my systems in one turn? There is very long starlane between my empire and cravers'. I checked and their ships have 6 movement points so couldn't have crossed it all in one go. I thought maybe they got there by a worm hole lane that I haven't revealed yet (unlikely as it's turn 65 on Normal and wormhole requires a lot of investment in Science which isn't Cravers' forte). I pushed the Wormhole research just to check if there was one and there wasn't. I've attached a save file for you to have a look.

Yes sollidude is right, the Cravers fleet was travelling along the lane but you couldn't see it yet as you didn't have anything to detect it in this range.

We have 3 levels of vision in the game:

- Unexplored (fog of war)

- Explored (no fog of war but no "vision range")

- Visible (the circle around your systems or fleets)

You can sign vision sharing agreements with the AI to see what they see :)

Hello,

Well, sollitdude just beat me to it, I was about to suggest maybe you didn't have visibility on the lane  which gave you the impression they were super fast for coming out of nowhere.

A little personal advice to avoid this situation in the future:

When I suspect an enemy is about to come pay me a little visit (like when they declare war, or even start being Aggressive) I park a few Explorers along my defenses and send Probes on lanes to avoid such surprises

Cheers,

Thank you for the responses. It's a bit clearer now. I remember in one of the topics that someone from the team said that you are still working on the contrast of the star map? Are you planning to make the second level of vision closer to fog of war because I for one didn't make a distinction about planets being visible, but not enemy movements.

I've heard of rumors of enhancing this distinction being on our internal Improve List, but I'm not sure about it so I don't quote me on this

Well to me as a player it makes sense that planets would be visible since planets are static, unlike ships that are constantly on the move, but  I totally see where you're coming from.
