Summary / Title

Battles play out very differently despite near identical set up (cards, weapon loadouts).

Description

I have two 1x1 battles going on with identical Scavenger ships (Cravers) against pirate Prowlers. In one case, my ship takes virtually no damage, in another it's nearly destroyed. The latter takes place in the Gemini system and in the battle report, enemy damage is not allocated to any of the phases. Furthermore, despite having Turle (+55% Hull Plating) battle card in play, I block very little of the enemy damage. In fact, having this battle card doesn't change the amount of damage the enemy deals with his Missiles (blocked amount is the same at 41) despite the tooltip saying I can reduce it with Hull Plating. Does it mean that there isn't a built-in defence value for shields / hull plating? The ship still has a measure of defence (74), so what is it? Very confusing.

You'll see that the Gemini enemy fleet has twice the weapon power, but then I would expect the first battle to play out in a way that damages 50% of my ship's health if twice the weapon power nearly destroys it. If there isn't an approximately linear relationship between weapon power and damage (under identical conditions), the mechanic needs to be better explained.
