You start your fledging empire and embark on your journey of conquest. You butt heads, battle and overcome your enemies to emerge victorious. And for your hours of toil you are rewarded with a little win screen and a few graphs.

I would love to see more when it comes to victory. Even if just it a short animated clip similar to the faction intros of Endless Space/Legend with a monologue on how awesome your chosen faction is.

Back in the day I remember a closing cinematic was a rewards to strive for. And it left a feeling of slight satisfaction rather than slight disappointment when you finish a game.

I hope that ES2 would have something more that just the end screen when you win a game.

I'd like to see more graphs, especially ones like in civ where you'd see stuff changing over time, after victory or defeat.

We've got some stuff for you regarding the end of the game, mentioned briefly in our first design document:

Anticlimactic endings are something we are aware of, and are definitely trying to address with Endless Space 2. smiley: smile

Also, the usual - AI, okay, that's out of the way. End game stuff.

Something substantial needs to happen there.

You're already putting a lot of effort into the cinematic battles - so why not do it like EVE Online and record videos with ingame assets? For conquest victories you can show a sting of clips showing space battles narrating your race's triumph over the enemy.

Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence does something that is surprisingly effective, once you win. It shows you the map of Japan evolve throughout the years from when you've started until you've finished. You get to see how you expanded and grew bigger and more powerful, and that adds a certain "emotional closure" to a hard fought play through.

I think something like that (perhaps presented as a short documentary) and / or a race specific outro could help make the "end endgame" more emotionally fulfilling.

I like this idea. It would be interesting to see the game splice pieces of the game's history in a narrative constructed procedurally. It would take the original Civ's "replay" of history to a whole new level.

A sort of "replay" at the end of the game, like in Civilization 4 or 5 would be welcome. A display of the map, showing the way borders expanded, and a log for important events, e.g. "Player X discovered Auriga." or "Player Y colonized Auriga." System colonization or conquest, powerful galactic events, construction of wonders (if they exist), or maybe even notable battles ("notable" being defined as "both fleets have more that TurnXMPFactor in MP")
