I think the way to modify planet type in ES is not wery logically correct. For example turning arctic planet to lava planet somehow easy then turning it to tundra planet. It will be more reallisticaly if planet type switch could be done not just between tiers, but in cycle: hydrogen <-> methan <-> lava <-> desert <-> arid <-> jungle <-> terran <-> ocean <-> tundra <-> arctic <-> barren <-> helium <-> hydrogen

Pierce a rocky planet with some lasers until the crust looks like some swiss cheddar and your own with your lava planet. Getting it dry and hot without actually mashing just some big holes into the crust seems actually quite a lot more complicated.

Personally I hope they don't change the Terraforming aspects too much as it was my favourite part of ES1. I played with the Amoeba affinity and one of their unique techs was a bonus to Ocean planets so changing my whole empire into Ocean planets was time consuming but fun.

It would be groovy if you can enlarge the size of a Asteroidfield by catching asteroids and shape it to a planet a moon or a habitable ring of a Gas giant maybe to increasing the Size of Planet. But i like Iskalds Idea.

You can lit the Athmosphere by Nitrogen-Fusion or higher up to Iron to create a Barren :-)

I liked the Terraforming too, it made perfect sense the way it transitions between the different Tiers of planets.



Although sometimes it wasn´t clear which of the two technologies you need, it seemed to be a bit glitchy at times to unlock a certain terraforming path.
