The diplomacy in Endless games is better than most due to influence points but I still see room for improvement here.

Saw the senate&politics suggestion and it looks nice (curious how it will function in the game).



It would be great if we could improve diplomacy also.

The main issue is the having a meaningful relationship with an AI player.

Instead of trading things maybe it would be better to exchange that or simply add a layer of goals.



When you meat a new player in the game you can represent your goals as well as he can represent his.

Those goals would be for example: explore, conquer planet, research specific project or branch of projects, maintaining peace, declaring war and so on.

This way you can see how aligned you are with another player and what your relationship is.

To makes things more interesting you can claim different things to different player but take a risk of them finally finding out.

Also you have say one thing and then do another but then everyone knows you are lying and relationships with everyone drops.



This could be much more interesting.

Implementing this shouldn't be such a big task.

In theory you need to outline which goals each AI has at a beginning and then have them make decisions based on those.

I know this gets more complicated once you start programming but still I don't think it would be a big project.
