USGR (United Soviet Galactic Republics)



The USGR were a communist splinter group of the United Empire. The Empire was embroiled in a huge galactic war, this war had take its toll on the population. They were tired of being mismanaged, misused and malnourished. The Soviet party within the Empire saw this and started a glorious revolution. Within weeks the Empire was forced to give the Soviets freedom. The Soviets founded the United Soviet Galactic Republics (USGR). This huge collective ruled justly and fairly for decades until their new ruler, Vladek Gavrikov saw that the other races were under oppressive regimes. He set about destroying the imperialist rulers and their empires. His successors continued his ambition. Now they see all other races, ideas and beliefs as heresy to their own and seek only to unite the empire.



The USGR could have a variety of interesting ideas such as:



Nationalization: Resources give dust and dust only, to get the full benefit you must trade to get the resource.



Collectivization: Food and Industry are doubled.



State Propaganda: Happiness levels are increased



Hatred of Capitalism: Cannot propose trade routes only accept.



This was just an idea that popped into my mind. it needs a lot more work but I hope you like it! ☭☭

I mean, I understand the tongue-in-cheek appeal of an obvious reference to our Universe, but we'd rather steer clear of existing or obvious references when making our games. This does not necessarily mean that we do not offer political commentary with our games (it's hard not to, one way or another), just that we'd rather do it on our own terms.

So how about not directly referencing what happened on our Earth but making communist aliens instead? Like, there was similar conflict of ideologies in some pre-space age civilisation and communism actually won?
