[Idea] Time-Mode

Another Idea, because my RTS-Idea is not practicable,



What do you think about a time mode? I think Endless Space is little bit like chess. You have to think ahead the next steps / rounds. The idea is, that you only have a given time and that the rounds will be finish automatically. The problem is, that at the beginning you have not so much to do and later very much. So there must be a algorithm that gives enough time to do all things but not too much. The settings can be easy (more time per round, more time to think), medium (a little less time) and hard (very little time, think and act quickly)

Wouldn't most use cases be covered by the last player timer? smiley: smile

I don't remember where, but I've seen a different kind of timer in another game.

Basically the idea is to add up a base value, a few seconds for every system and every fleet a player controls, and then the highest value decides how long the turn timer is.

Effects would be that this kind of timer would scale from short to medium as the game progresses, then stall somewhere until one player gets a majority share of the galaxy.

It also means that the leading player would have less time per system/fleet, and player who are behind had more time to optimise their systems, making a multi-player game more competitive than last player timer, as turn time is fixed for everyone, and no two players could stall the game.
