I was wondering that, will transhumanism or technological and evolutional transcendence show in the game in other forms than the presumable science victory type?

In my opinion, it would be interesting to see quests or other features handling the subject.

I tried to search for previous threads about this, but I couldn't find any so I made a new one.

What are you talking about? Horatio is clearly superior to ordinary, evolved humans, so Transhumanism is obviously in the game already. smiley: biggrin

All joking aside, I do believe some of the late-game technologies do make reference to genetic modification and other enhancements to help your people cope with hostile environments. For example, Accelerated Evolution: "Based on the ancient technologies of recombinant gene engineering, accelerated evolution is a pool of techniques that overall permit organisms to adapt and thrive at an [sic] very rapid pace. When applied to crops, it produces densely packed fields of disease- and pest-resistant plants that self-fertilize, adapt to intense climate conditions, and even taste good."

However, I would certainly love to see that aspect fleshed out a little more in quests and events. It's a great fit for the Endless Universe, since the whole Concrete/Virtual conflict is really about two different approaches to Transhumanism(TransTorianism?) and Transcendence, and dust is an excellent tool to achieve any number of transhuman/transcendent goals.

Oh damn! I totally forgot about Horatio smiley: eek

That's actually what I loved about the techs in general. To read all the cool descriptions and just imagine how the day-to-day life on a colony would look like when for example self replicating structures would be implemented:

"Using inorganic biology techniques and the native intelligence of Dust, objects of widely varying sizes can be created that self-design and self-improve."

Moreover, if I remember right, the science victory in ES 1 was reach when you discover how to transfert the mind of your people onto computer.

Indeed! I found that very fascinating. I guess the tech was called Pan-Galactic Society or something like that.

That was basically going the same way as the Virtual Endless went I assume?

Hello.

In my opinion, transhumanism can be implanted (transhumanism is only the usage of the technology to a sublevel of the matter as the body or the brain) but not Transcendance or Singularity, because these notions means complet changes in the sentient Life as no more war, brain download into computers, affect disappearance.

The true interesting Singularitarien notion which could be used would be the Perversion, a corrupted Singularity where an A.I Singularity only search to destroy all life but itself. This notion is a fictionnal notion developped by Vernor Vinge in his book Fire upon the Deep.

Maybe the Perversion idea may inspire the devs of Endless Space.
