I feel like it was different with pirates though; like you could get unlucky and have a pirate fleet spawn turn 1 through an exploration event and then use your scout and maybe even your colony and maybe even your possibility to expand until you overinvested in defense.

Am I the only one who liked them? smiley: alder They were awesome for leveling your hero up. Also it was hilarious to see your enemies struggle against pirates smiley: kitty

Though I admit, using X of cheapest ship I could make to prevent pirates from spawning in my constellation was a bit game-y and not too realistic

I tend to turtle quite heavily while I try to get ahead in science and production, so pirates were always an incredibly annoying wrench in my plans. I mostly just disabled them, I have to confess. smiley: stickouttongue
