I like to watch battles sometimes, but if we can have the option to speed up the fight (e.g. faster animation), I think more people will be willing to watch them.

This would be especially great because I heard that every fight animation will be different in ES2 depending on many variables.

They will implement this for EL so chances are good for ES 2 too.

I was hoping they went into the direction of no manual combat at all. At least the way battle is structured in Endless Legend, the tactics available are so simplistic they´re only really useful to get an advantage over high difficulty AI and offset their flat bonuses. On PvP, battle tactics make little to no difference, and are not able to change the outcome of a battle significantly (unless only one side chooses to solve it manually, which doesn´t characterize PvP).

If the focus continues to be on multiplayer experience, manual is just a nuissance.

To my knowledge there has been no indication that battles in ES2 will be under the control of the player like they are in EL. Instead, we'll be able to give our fleets battle plans to follow before the battle starts, but the actual combat is hands off and only visual.

As far as a speed up option goes, I'm fine if we get one but I won't use it. I'll either want to watch certain battles in all their glory or skip over them entirely if they are going to be one-sided or insignificant.

I think I'd welcome a speed-up option that could be triggered in mid battle for those times when the outcome is not obvious before the battle starts, but quickly shifts because of luck or tactics.

I also would not mind if battle cinematics could be played in a small window rather than full screen, allowing me to visually judge the outcome of the battle even as I get some of the less engaging empire management done.

This. So much This. There's no greater satisfaction than seeing a well-thought out tactical plan pay off and you're leaning back on your chair watching the action unfold.

We're working on a "skip" option that will finish the battle automatically if you feel like you'd rather move on with your turn. smiley: smile
