I just read through the GDD about narration and I think that, on top of how awesome the new quest and reward system sounds, having an actual voice narration would be great. Just something to emphasise big events like completing a chapter or conquoing enemy. I feel it would add yet another layer of polish to what is shaping up to be an awesome 4X. smiley: amplitude

Yeah, i can't imagine it comes cheap, particularly with multiple languages.



I think the key is to find out the right places for it, as it can be a major source of immersion. I can still hear the Alpha Centauri tech tree voices to this day.

I have no idea where the costs lay, but what if you let the player base do it? Out of the 100,000's of us, a few have to have somewhat interesting voices? Make it a contest?

I agree with some of the suggestions though, find the right places for it. And definitely let us turn it off. smiley: smile No matter how much the immersion, after the nth time...

You already do voice-overs for each faction intro in ES1 and EL. So do the same for ES2. And it would be real nice if you add a voice-over for the victory screen. "A winner is you!" paragraph feels very anti-climatic when it's just that, not even an accompanying piece of art/narration...
