While this is true, the interface takes up a lot more real estate on the screen in SC/SC2. SC also only has three factions, so the UI only needed three skins. Furthermore, there was really only one UI that needed different skins--the main play screen.

By contrast, ES2 would need 8 UI skins and counting, and they'd have to be made for each different screen the player interacts with (main play screen on the galaxy map, menus for system management, screens and menus for empire-level management, the politics screen, etc.). That's a lot of art assets to ask for by comparison.

Hmm i dont think so since many screens have a similar layouts and "copy-paste" should be possible. But you are right , we have at least 8 different races so a little work is necessary smiley: wink.

Devs should check Twilight Imperium 3 the board game which had a lot unique artistic and gameplay races for ideas smiley: cool

I think they're already pretty aware of this, I can see some big similarities in lore, strategy and general look: Yin Brotherhood ~ Horatio, Universities of Jol-Nar ~ Amoeba, The Nekro Virus / Sardakk N'orr ~ Cravers,...

With the introduction of stealth in Endless Legend, maybe this would also be an opportunity to introduce it in Endless Space. The Yssaril Tribes / The Ghosts of Creuss in Twilight Imperium, which are both highly mobile, opportunistic tricksters. Especially The Yssaril Tribes have an interesting look for a space game (Goblin-like).

Other things that could be interesting but probably difficult to implement/balance from that board game:

- The Clan of Saar, which get benefits from abandoning and conquering planets, making them some kind of space nomads. And they have the possibility to set up camp in asteroid fields (which no other faction in the board game has).

- The Arborec, living trees that quickly gain forces on a planet once conquered, and of which the production capacity is determined by the amount of ground forces. Some kind of organic growth going on there.

I dont see the Necrophage as ancestors of the Cravers, but maybe as a Prototype or proof of concept. And when it comes to the Pilgrims, I could see one of two possibilities. Either they never left the Empire or they did and joined forces with the Sophon, they were already buddy buddy during ES 1, they may as well be married. And the Sheredyn being Merged with the Emipre is a good thing, maybe some aspect of the politics, like selecting a political leader when your first starting the game would allow for the United Empire to take a Sheredyn flavor

There are really Vaulter fans out there? I wouldnt miss zhem.

Personally I think the Horatio will also be in there just because of popularity.

Most of us already know that Vaulters are included to 99% but I still like to point out that on that following picture the guy wears orange and black which are the colors of the Mezari. Also it seems like he stands before an old Vault (Auriga?). I dont think the UE or else would build such a statue.

No more Horatio for ES2?

I will say that I liked the basic concept of the Vaulters, but it could have been fleshed out much better. I was especially disappointed by the re-skinned UE ships.

I would absolutely love to see Vaulters and Lords in ES2, they are my two favorite races in Legends.

I really hope the Automatons make a return, they were my favorite faction to play. I liked the fact that they were isolationist and could be played as such; something that's often missing in 4X games.

Hissho would also be great for returning.

The Hissho are too cool not to make an appearance. The Sheredyn could easily be represented as an elite faction within the United Empire and it would honestly make a lot of sense for them to go that route. I would like to see everyone in ES make a return and just build on what already exists although, I would understand if that didn't happen since a lot of the factions in ES had very similar play styles compared to EL anyway.

I agree that the Broken Lords are awesome but, I'd be surprised if they turned up in ES 2. They would however make a suitable replacement for the Sheredyn if they did decide to merge the two United Empire factions into one.

Armor colors aside, I think that image has a very strong Pilgrims vibe.

Am I the only one that couldn't care less about Vaulters? They got tons of attention already, with a skin, lots of lore, the Forgotten being tied to them... I mean, yes, it's probable, they seem to be a huge community favourite, but, eh.

If there are to be EL factions in ES2, give me Broken Lords in space, please. Or, even better, bunnies in.... I mean, Wild Walkers in space.

Oh, and if the Hissho aren't there I'll be upset, but I believe they will be; they were too cool and popular to stay out.

I'm also hoping for a sentient star(s)/planet(s) with a mechanic that will diverge wildly from the norm, something to be to ES2 sort of what the Cult is to EL.

You're definitely not.

What I care about is being able to launch a crusade to make the galaxy as beautiful as the most beautiful thing in creation. Horatio.

I don't really care for space Vikings either.

To be honest I always liked their affinity and the whole theme of star gates and high mobility within your own empire.

But concerning all the other aspects I highly agree.

The Vaulters got way to much attention in the past.

Actually I think the community realy does not love the Vaulters as much as the Devs might think.

Seriously, the Vaulters Faction Intro in Endless Space is a bit cringe worthy. It's like it was screaming "LIKE US, WE ARE THE MOST HUMAN" (and most boring).

I would prefer to see Cultists than Vaulters, i not big fan of Cultists gameplay, but their art design and story is awesome.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if all of the original factions made it back into the game eventually, though if any are going to be dropped it should probably be the Sheredyn and Vaulters as there's an overabundance of humans in the game already and I'd argue they're the least interesting (sorry devs). I wouldn't be surprised if the Dust Collective made it in this time though seeing as they were pretty close to being a full faction in the fist game (even though they're yet another flavour of humans).

In an ideal world I'd love to see a start line up of 13 (UE, Sophons, Hissho, Cravers, Pilgrims, Horatio, Amoeba, Sowers, Harmony, Automatons, Dust Collective + two new non-human factions) - though maybe that's too much of an ask? I'm also hoping there will be more factions added to the game post release this time round too, just to keep the game fresh - one every 4-6 months would be amazing.

Races that pretty much are pseudo UE factions could always just be a UE reskin available for custom factions if people want to recreate the Sheredyn for example.

The Endless created the Cravers and the Sowers. They absolutely need to make a return. These two are basically non-negotiable to not make a return

Vaulters would need to return, as much as they might not be liked by people.

The vaulters were one of the races to leave Auriga after Endless Legend, after being in the vaults that were in Dungeons of the Endless. Unfortunately, they didn't really get a backstory in Endless Space beyond Auriga. They do feel like they were tacked into Endless Space because they needed a Crystal/Founder edition award for Endless Space.

Endless Space 2 could flesh out the lore of the Vaulters a lot better.
