Should be fixed now. Seems spam detection fired on this thread and marked the first post.

Amplitude might give the minor factions animated avatars for diplomacy as part of a general update to minor faction depth and interaction (I mean, it's unlikely, but it would be cool). And even if they keep the static diplomacy screens, the only problem would be that the elevated minor factions wouldn't have as much bling as the standard major factions.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Have you suggested it as an Idea already?

No, I have not, but since someone with 'Dev' in their title suggested it to me, I probably should!

EDIT: Just did. I don't expect it to happen as anything other than a DLC or part of an expansion, but it would still be nice for the minor factions to have animated screens.

Well, the only tough part will be "filling in the blanks" with regards to assets. They won't have all six classes of ships, they won't have an avatar for diplomacy, and they won't have artwork for a quest-line. Still, with them being a minor, some work is already done (They have heroes, some ships, citizens, etc). And the actual data stuff is pretty easy to work with.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that heroes, an Empire bonus and population traits aren't the only unique attributes that minor factions will have once the game is released. I could see things like unique ship hulls, multiple empire traits (some minor factions already have more than one), faction-specific questlines, even unique technologies being implemented to grant minor factions a lot more versatility and uniqueness. If they end up being small, insular empires that can have intricate diplomatic relations with multiple major factions at once, that would be a big win in my book.

For what it's worth, I doubt that by release the only minor faction unique ships will be the current system of pirate-types shared by all minor factions.

Well, I won't propaply be spending my moneys to ES2 until Hissho comes to playple faction. All the other factions are fine but I just enyoed playing Hishho plus loved they fluff...

I was pöanning to spend money to buy early access and the more expensive one to support my favorite game studio ever, but know, after buying last two dlc to eL, I thing I have enough Amps games for, maybe, life tim, exspealicy if they say that bugs are not playable eather.... (what I fear they say..)

Always thought that some races would be demoted to minor ones (Pilgrims smiley: sadblue, Horatio, Sheredyn) since there was room for only 8 at start, but never thought that Hissho would be the first 'victim'. I guess someone new will take their place as the warrior race of the galaxy and actually i hope someone will cause the Cravers are cool but i dont think they fill that spot very well

I wouldn't panic yet - there isn't really anything preventing Amplitude from 'upgrading' a minor faction to a major faction at a later date, should they want to. I think including the Hissho as a minor faction was perhaps a way of having them in the game at release so that fans didn't worry that they had just been retconned out of the lore, or something like that. As there are only going to be 8 playable factions on release (and at least two of those seem like they'll be completely new races) it would be impossible for all of the ES1 factions to return immediately. I think the best thing for Hissho fans to do at this point would be to wait until the game is released and then start letting Amplitude know how much you'd like to see them make a full return. Same for the fans of any other factions that don't make the initial cut (I'm sure I'll be campaigning for the Sowers) - don't give up hope!

Some races have to make way as we don't want all the same main races again.Horatio,Harmony and definitely the Pilgrims seem more like minor nations than main empires too imo.Sheredyn should not be in the game at all apart from a UE troop type.

Looks like the wiki was updated, and I was a bit surprised to find that the Hissho have been revealed as a minor faction (ok, not that surprised. I image other ES1 major factions will be turned minor factions to make room for new ones) Any thoughts? I didn't particularly like the Hissho in terms of gameplay in ES1, but that's just because they didn't really fit my play style. I for one, however, LOVE their new look, and can't wait to see the re-imaginings of the returning factions as well as the new ones!

Also, doesn't anyone else notice all sorts of strangeness going on in the wiki? There are all sorts of icons that clearly don't match whatever they're trying to convey smiley: stickouttongue

if their removal from the major faction roster is going to create room for more unique and interesting factions, then I'm all for it. If on the other hand, we end up with 3-4 human factions out of 8, I'm going to be unamused.

I really hope they collapsed the human factions: the United Empire, and Sheredyn felt very ascetically similar, were very similar in lore, and even played similar both as and against. I really think the "human" analog will be best served solely by the vaulters

I respect this company for their creativity and ascetics so I am hopeful that the loss of Hisso will make room for something great (without two legs)

I'm still unsure what to think of this.

On one hand, the Hissho were my favourite faction in ES, with what I thought were pretty cool aesthetics. On the other hand, in terms of both gameplay and lore, they were more on the generic side of things and weren't as interesting as factions like the Harmony, Horatio, or Amoeba.

I'm with you all, a little disappointed, but on the brighter side I really loved reading the Hissho Hero background story and the fact that I can potentially use Hissho ships as any race i choose smiley: smile

I am, frankly, a little surprised that the Hissho were revealed as a minor faction, since I had the impression they were fairly popular.

Isn't there supposed to be a thread here? I can only see a title. That said though, I think the Hissho will work as a minor faction. Kinda. I feel like some others could work better though, like Pilgrims and Sheredyn, maybe also Horatio.
