It would be interesting to carry out raids with troops, depending on the planet or system, they could suffer so much in favour as anomalies. Me based on the story behind the movie "man of steel" that in homeworld, to our eyes, it would be okay to continue living there, but, as came to Earth, the Sun did that your body adapt to the environment Earthman and, over time, new skills have emerged.
Such situations happen all the times that the troops were sent to the destination planet of the attack and, depending on the technology, they could remain "normal" carrying special costumes or try to experience the radiation from the star of the system which are invading.
Planetary Weapons
Still based on the same movie and also in the newly released "The 5th Wave", it would be nice if ships "mothers" could have a module that provided the power of the use of weapons in planetary proportions that, as a consequence, could create:
• Earthquakes
• Tsunamis
• Tidal waves
• Volcanoes in gigantic proportions
• Diseases
• Destabilization of the planet's core target and may even cause an explosion.
• Storms in planetary proportions that could create floods or even an ice age that planet
• Insanity in local animals (More effective in wild planets)
• Instability in the gravity of planets among others.

At the scale at which Endless Space 2 is operating, I think genetic mutation due to radiation exposure is unlikely. Mutations usually occur over several generations, even though a higher level of exposure can accelerate that process. I believe the fully isolated suit to be the most probable choice.
For your second suggestion, it's unlikely that any attacker would want to inflict such dramatic and potentially long-lasting effects on a planet that they plan on invading and taking for yourself... :)
I would like if you could Build Giant in Space Stations (Battle Stations,Giant Assembly Stations, Ressearch Stations, or Stations needed for Different improvements in the System or for the Empire ( how about a very special Research Station for some end game techs) and so on)
This stations would cost a ton of Ressources but bring great Bonuses. If something like this would be implementet id would be cool if you are Bombarding a Planet with so much defenses it is quit imposseble to break down ( let´s says high-end-defenses for a key Planet ) youcould take try to take over the enemys stations ( Maybe like a Ground battle but with much weaker defense) and refit them for destructive Abilitis .
