I found these on a site called Worthplaying by accident. The website mostly has the same pictures as the French news article I posted about a little while ago however this new site has 3 more pictures that show better views of both the Lumeris and Craver ships in the fight. Enjoy.
Thanks for the screenshots. But the planets still look much worse than ES1 planets. Compare that oceanic with this one.
1st: Like I said I don't know if it is an ocean planet or not. ES2 has a different system of categorization for planets. They are no longer just Terran, Ocean, Arid, Tundra, Lava, etc. Their biome depends on what temperature the planet is AND what the environmental group is (Atoll, steppes, lava, etc.).
2nd: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I personally prefer the new planets over the old ones. The new versions look far smoother and much more dynamic, with more variety and textures of greater detail.
3rd: Don't forget that their art style has evolved since ES1. ES2 seems to have a much more 'painted feel than its predecessor. Here is a side by side reference of two gas Giants for your viewing and critique:
