It could be a cool natural phenomenon, but i just can't see it being nor major, nor minor faction.

P.S. Lem's ocean had little-to-no interaction with humans, and I see no reason for sentient clouds to be different in that sense, if they are as alien as you state them to be. Storywise I can't see them willing to build starships, participate in stock market, build museums for population approval or be involved in ANY activities any other faction does in the game.

Thank you for your comments, I am aware some feel the WeatherKin would not be an ideal entry into the game.  My personal goal is to add something unique to ES2 that ES1 did not have, not just the same ol' ES1 with a fresh coat of paint.  Such as my suggestion for planetary transformation due to a Quest, as in my entry for that contest: https://www.games2gether.com/endless-space-2/contest/103-closed-quest-creation-contest/proposition/19747-perfidious-probes


And for the Faction contest I wanted to add something like the Harmony or Cultists, who both took very strange ideas and were still able to incorporate them into the game.  True, I was inspired by Lem's Solaris and Fiasco aliens, but I was trying to make a positive spin on them that would be more diplomatic.  Sure some can't imagine them making starships, playing stock market, building museums, etc.  But I did offer suggestions as to how the ships would look and operate, and I did give them some interest in  and Applied Sciences. The fact that they are so hard to comprehend is what I think gives them their interesting charm, and if it were to become a faction, I am sure the devs could find ways to include them in all the features while retaining their incomprehensible nature.

I don't see how clouds are better than trees. Personally, I voted for neither, but the trees seem to make a lot more sense to me, if nothing else because they have a more physical presence and direct influence on more than the weather. I could see the clouds being a minor faction rather easily, but I myself don't feel they really fit the role of a major faction, mostly for reasons already put forward by others. I do kinda like it conceptually, but gameplay wise, it doesn't sound like it'd do it for me.

I don't see how clouds are better than trees. Before I begin I just want to say that I absolutely meant no offence to DevilDog by saying that. His faction is very well put together and I do think it would do well in the game, I was merely stating my personal preferences on the subject and why I had voted for Weatherkin. Now, as far as the full reason why I think clouds are better than trees? First, I've always been somewhat of a meteorology buff and always had a thing for clouds and the weather in general. Second, they just remind me to much of the wild walkers for some reason. Yes I know they are completely different but I just can;t shake it. I believe both factions are quite good and I should have worded my statements during the vote to better show my meaning. Sorry about that.
