Amplitude, you are god damn awful at showing your game

What the heck is this? It's the second time you're showing demo build, it's the  second time you are showing it via Twitch channel, with the same stupid host,  that prefers to speak idiotic nonsense, instead of allowing you to tell about your game. You're spending valuable time showing faction intros (that we've already seen many-many times) out of mere 15 minutes to showcase gameplay, and you're running out of time again to show us actual SPACE BATTLES...

I'd actually say that Amplitude is very good and professional at showing their game, as neither of them let that host fluster them.

I doubt they had any say in who the hosts would be. And frankly, after what I heard before the ES2 showing while I had the stream open in another tab, none of the twitch hosts were better. If only they could get interviewed by a calm person actually interested in 4X games.

I kind of wish at this point they'd do something similar to the Blorg steams that Paradox did for Stellaris. That way they can show off the game at their own pace, give us a better idea of what the game is and how the new mechanics work, and have some fun doing it...

The Blorg streams were a brilliant way to market Stellaris and I so wish Amplitude would do the same with ES2. The downside is that they are a much smaller company and much less able to pull team members away to do 2-3 hour streams. On the other hand, getting more people into the company to help with marketing is what Sega is for now.

Need I remind you that this build is the final showcasable build before early access release? And that they said that they are still working on the fourth faction, so why not space battles as well? After all the updated pre-battle UI is much different than the one shown by IGN back in 2015, so maybe a lot has been changed.

I thinkt he space battles are ready for showing and playing. In the first Twitch Stream they just ended the stream after the battle started for a few seconds. So I guess they were confident to show the whole space battle sequence. In this video they don't even get so far. So I guess it's all to time constraints. Having less than 15 Minutes to show a 4X to some hosts who aparently don't understand what 4X strategy is, well that's just to less time.

I'd guess it's one of two things.

1. Battles aren't actually ready/ready enough.  Not unheard of, but given the tease and whatnot I'd be surprised if this was the method they were going about it, since it makes others look bad and it's hard to ensure.

2. They are ready but they wanted to show the game at specific events and are somewhat locked/committed to not showing footage otherwise.  Either because someone thinks its better this way (they're wrong for the record if true), or because there's some silliness with either how hard it is to get the game stable enough for a run through build or some obligation to make sure these events get "exclusive footage" (hardly unheard of).

Could be a bunch of other stuff as well, but either way it's sorta surprsing to me that they're apparently ready to show footage, but ok with it fizzling twice (maybe not ok, but I'd have basically opened with it after the first time, or at least had a youtube to drive people to with some footage at this point).  Even worse, as was shown by the interviewers, that's the casual crowd you're appealing to, and the thing the casual crowd would be most drawn to is the pretty battle stuff, while hardcore crowd stuff like what they're showing would've been find on a youtube channel link on the forums/wiki and spread on TBS/4x channels.  So as annoying as it is for us, it should be more annoying to them because games like this tend to get very limited time to appeal to the casual crowd.

Should note this is just idle conjecture and shouldn't be taken that seriously.  Mostly born out of hype and desperation for more info.

Early Access is supposed to come later this month, guys. With a little patience, there'll be plenty of YouTube videos with gameplay on them, even if you don't jump in right away.

I agree with Eji it probably would have been better to start the demo off on a battle, to grab the attention of the crowd who hasn't heard of the Endless games yet.

And I suspect that there may indeed be some exclusivity deal afoot, but even we are not privy to that information. It's a shame they didn't get to show their full demo because of Twitch's ridiculous schedule. I am extremely frustrated, because I know what you guys are missing.

We should convince SEGA to have streaming booths in the future, like Paradox.

As far as Youtube videos are concerned: I intend to run a "release day stream" when the game hits Early Access. I'll post a thread once an actual date is announced.</ShamelessSelfpromotion>

Yeah, the Blorg streams did a lot of good in showcasing the game, even as it was still a work in progress. Got a lot of buzz in the 4x community for sure. I was riveted by them, even if the comedy in them wasn't always to my taste.
