New gameplay from the recent lifestram from the German gaming journal Gamestar:

https://www.twitch.tv/gamestarde/v/91887313

Start from 06:40. Romain himself is in the video.

The gameplay is life, played bye the gamestar people and commented bye Romain. He answers also some community questions. The gameplay is not very fluent because of all the explaining. So there are just the first few turns. But some nice info, for example the Sophons can research Era II tech right away!

Sadly the stream cuts of early because of Twitch failing for Europe. And guess when the stream dies? Right, exactly at the time the space combat is shown. Arrg Amplitude you are cursed.

I actually summed up the stream in a reddit post here: https://redd.it/54xw4k

That said I think this belongs into the (pinned) link collection thread more than in a thread on its own.

Wow, they showed a new planet type: Monsoon, it is  temperate (according to the game), and most likely flooded/wet, but it doesn't fit into the chart the devs gave us in the game design documents, unless it got changed or you can have several planets fit into the same categories.

It gives out more Dust and Science than other planets but it's pretty bad for industry.

I'm really curious how colonization technologies are going to work now, especially since the Sophons could colonize Veldt and Monsoon planets right out of the gate, but not Jungle or Steppes...

I kind of hope this means that there will be greater emphasis on the diversity of starting planets. It would be interesting for the Sophons (just as an example) to start off with the tech to colonize Tundra planets, but would actually have to research Terran colonization since it's not a planet type they're used to inhabiting.  I think it could mix things up in the early gave if not every faction was seeking out Terrain/Ocean/Jungle planets and instead was focused on looking for planets that suit their main faction species.

True. There is a lot more planet diversity now, and instead of hunting for tier 1 planets which were Terran/Ocean/Jungle in ES1, you now plan ahead and look for the resources you want and colonise planets that focus on one or two of the FIDS.

Low on food? Colonise an Atoll planet. Need more dust? Grab a Desert planet.

Need industry? Colonise Lava/Jungle/Arid planets.

Here's a biggy i saw in that stream. After he made his first outpost the colony ship was still there, does that mean they aren't single use? O.o

Pretty sure that was their Hero's ship leftover from the colonization process, since he assigned it to the colony fleet before setting out to the new system...

I posted this in the wrong thread earlier, but one important piece of information from the video is that they confirmed that 2 of the 3 unrevealed Major factions (remember, the Unfallen are the 8th Major faction ) will be returning factions from Endless Space 1. So I guess start speculating which ones are going to be revealed now...  part of me kind of hopes the last new faction is actually the human one

First thing I noticed immediately, is why do we start with a minor faction on-board? o_0

We already know one of the returning factions are the Humans, the other ones are probably the Sowers/Automatons (because we need a robotic race) and another new faction.
