So very very recently http://www.endless-space.com/ was updated. A lot more information is shown there now, you can still subscribe to the newsletter but most importantly, there is a new semi-interactive/visually interactive trailer. Unlike the Amplified Reality one, this one has your Cursor control where the video switches from a Sophon to a Vodyani perspective(Them being directly opposing Ideology, despite the traditional Sophon/Cravers enemy pairing, but they're more directly opposed to the pacifist Lumeris now, especially given that both are expansionst as a reason for conflict). Obviously the trailer is really cool, however, most importantly, it at the end quite strongly, in my opionion, hints at a return of the Endless, with the narrator having stated that lifes hunger for power and dust is helping them in their return to make everyone recognize them(Narrators faction) as their Gods again. Does this mean some kind of event at end-game where the Endless will return and attempt to subjugate everyone(Expcept maybe the Vodyani who'd like them if they are the Virtuals but their quest also talked about ancient demons being summoned by a heretic, and if these and the returning Endless are the same and the concrete Endless this could be a new bigger bad type enemy for everyone)?

I saw that too! Amazing trailer!

It also showed us how Vodyani really look like. ;)

BTW as it seems the option to invite friends is now gone, unless it's hidden in a place I cannot see.

I'm beginning to rethink my "The Harmony are the big bad end game crisis" theory based off of the narration of the new video (which, oddly enough the narration of the first teaser video is what led me to think that they were in the first place.) From the sounds of it... are the Endless possibly returning to reclaim what was once theirs? Maybe the Endless didn't go extinct, maybe they just got bored with this galaxy and left...

Indeed an very interesting video, especially the parts where the evolution of both races was show. The beginning of the Vodyani seems odd compared to the of the Sophons, looks like an egg (like a egg from a shark) laying in a room.

And I wonder if there is a meaning behind the different numbers of stars at end (where they form a face of an four-eyed creature, which seem similar to the creature in the Vodyani trailer when the heretic and the demons he summoned is mentioned.)

I don't recall the Endless ever being depicted with 4 eyes, but if the Vodyani revere the Virtual Endless, could the the "demons" being referenced be revealed to be the Concrete Endless?

Maybe, who knows what they did with there bodies to enhance them. But yes, I don´t recall that either.

From the description in the steam store page:

"The galaxy will belong to the civilization that controls Dust and uncovers its secrets… but were the Endless alone in the galaxy? What is the true origin of Dust? Are the rumors around a mysterious organization called the Academy real? "

So it seems it´s not the endless and it somehow is related to the academy.

People forget that the Endless were not a monolithic empire, they had over a 1000 distinctive cultures/factions. I wouldn't put it past one of them to try and play god with the galaxy...again.

Pure theorycrafting  : A pre-Endless civilisation, now nearly extinct/in exile somewhere outside the galaxy created Dust in a way to survive/comeback somehow. They created the Academy to be some kind of a trojan horse, infusing/corrupting Heroes with Dust and spreading it through the different civilisations.

Dust definitely seems to be part of their plan, and that fits in well with the Academy being part of their plan. All of the heros are dust infused biologically through the Academy and distributed evenly to each empire, and the entire galactic economy is dust based. I'm really interested to see how this plays out...

What a great trailer. I sat there mouth wide open. Literally. The switching between both perspectives. WOW, just great. It got me as hooked as the space opera Mass Effect, which had 3 games to build up. I am certain ES2 will have a better ending though.

The sound, the narration, the fleet battle. This was amazing!!! Something really great is coming. They did a great job not to blow all the hype beforehand. Well done Amplitude, well done!
