Is anyone else having difficulty winning as the Vodyani? I keep losing due to score. The opponent AI all have two or 3 times the amount of population I do, but I outclass them in all other fields. Is there something else I am missing?

Its curious how some players say they seam overpowered while others are strugling, havily dependant on map generation ?

My advice, look as fast as you can for someone to leach, since is the most important part of the faction. the other ways of getting essence are awfull.

Research 'Neural Robotics' at era II (it's in the bottom left quadrant), then go to your 'Economy screen' (the button in the top left that looks like 2 piles of coins), and design a system upgrade under 'System Development'. You get to make one tier per era, and you need to decide which luxuries will be needed to build the development (this affects the development's bonus).

The problem in that is that the tech to upgrade system level unlocks all the way in era two, so when you are just starting to get more than 3 pop. per planet, everyone else will have at least 5+ pop. on their planet. At the moment I kinda feel like the Vodyani are underpowered, because if you get bad planet rng and factions are far away from you, it becomes really hard to colonize other planets due to lack of essence.

Tbh I find them to be the most powerful because they fit my warmonger playstyle the most (though Cravers are obviously also great at that)  I don't bother colonising more then 2, maybe 3 systems per game and focus purely on unrestricted carnage*

Also, while your pop per system is limited, you have instant control over every colonisable planet in the system which effectively multiplies your population.

*Ok, almost unrestricted. Force truce is really annoying

Ah! that's why I lost before! I tried it last night and it's totally game changing, now I actually manages to win using this technique!
