How do I set my fleet to guard the system and prevent ground invasion ? I've been setting blockade up but it didn't worked out.

It doesn't.  It might be a bug, but fleets shouldn't be able to invade if there is a fleet guarding the system.

From what I've seen if your fleet is activated when an enemy fleet enters the system and there is a space battle the "blockade/defense" is then removed and another fleet can enter to perform a ground invasion.

I've seen this where I win the battle but I have to tell the fleet AGAIN to blockade. Not sure if this was a similar situation for you.

I used to guard + sleep fleets to defend my own systems to avoid beeing prompted to still have ships with moves (upper right icon on end turn button). But the next turn i can't see the blocade visual displayed on the system so got used to re-selecting my fleet again, cancelling sleep and re clicking guard + sleep to see it properly displayed and this is horrible annoying (dunno if effects apply despite no presence of the guarding visual)

can't anyone answer this please ?

Apparently, being able to invade while there's an enemy fleet orbiting the system, is a bug. 

The ground combat DD says that you can't invade.

I kinda broke my game trying to win the space battle prior to invading. 

Once my ships entered the guarded system, only the invade button was available but I ignored it. I cycled through my fleets, and the space combat unlocked! After winning in space, I saw that the invade button turned grey so I hit End Turn. Then a popup informed me that I had yet to complete my invasion! Whaaat?? 

I clicked all the buttons in the invasion screen, but nothing happened and I couldn't end the turn either, the game wouldn't let me. 

So that game is a bust. :(

I don't remember ever being prompted that I have ships with moves. Is this an additional option?
