Hello guys! I was waiting for this for some time now especially since I played the vaulter/mezari story in legend. I really like where this game is going with the story and I really hope we get more of it in ES2.
Since Im completely new in this early access version and I have no idea where to go to get informed im just gonna ask , while keeping in mind that this is still early access , are we gonna get more weapons systems variety? Having projectiles only as space mini guns while we get a missile system and 3 energy weapons systems does seem limited. Must admit its been some time since i last played endless space so I barely remember what was going on there. The main reason this game draw my attention originally was the unique space combat system which i enjoy a lot. Just getting comfortable on my couch and watching the battles unfold is really epic for me. So what kind of arsenal did we have in ES and what do you think we can expect for ES2? EL provided a wide variety of gear and stuff for your units. Do you think we can get something similar for our ships and even our ground troops? Would really love to see little 3d models of heros or soldiers though it doesnt seem to be the endless space thing. The new ship models look great though, god i love the new sophon designs and the virtual races ships remind me of caldari design from eve online i really like that.
Anyway I really hope that we can get a wide variety of costumisation for our fleets looks and weapons.
My suspicion is "mostly no" however we might get more support modules.
I do think more unique effects on weapons would be good. From what I can tell the kinetic guns currently also double as flak defenses which I think gives them a unique use.
I'm sorta hoping other systems/weapons can get secondary uses as well that might keep them relevant throughout the game. For example having hyperium missiles have a chance to "tag" target and up all other weapons chance to hit, or making the titanium lasers get a small % chance to disable a random module for X time so that you actually have use for them once you hit era 2/3+
Further if such systems existed you could do neat things with the current mount spots. Symmetric currently doesn't seem to do much and heavy is just a flat damage increase, while I'd rather it be a damage increase but a huge boost to the secondary effect (say having a kinteic gun there is now much more effective at shooting down missiles than even a 4x slot).
Either way I like the start, but I hope there's more depth added.
