The button to view the list of systems seems to have been removed everywhere from the UI .... has this just been removed or am I missing something?

Go to your economy tab and look at the top of your screen. You'll see the very well hidden list from clicking the 'Systems' button next to 'Economy screen (X)' and 'Trade & resources'. Before this, my best idea of what my empire looked like was perusing the hero assignment screen. 

Does anyone else wish the system list also displayed system level? Would be nice to tell at a glance which systems I had not yet upgraded.

Ugh. That's awful. 

They need to have that be a primary button on the top bar.  If not that, they could port all the information and functionality (eg opening build queues) over to the economic screen.  I always wanted a system summary screen that presented the information as a geographic overlay instead of a list - because often the location of things is as important as the production values. 

I also think it should be more prominent. It's like they hid it on purpose.
