So I just bought the game not too long ago and reading up on some of the race lores and such (You can easily tell the Necrophages are the Cravers.) I thought 'Hey, wouldn't there be Auriga somewhere in this system maybe?' Lo' and behold, not too many turns after my start I found Auriga. It provides some pretty neat lore and that's why I'm loving ES2 so far, it ties in a lot with EL.

just thought I'd post this here in case some of you haven't found it yet. :P

What do you all think about the game so far? :)

The Cravers and Necrophages are actually not the same. The Cravers were created by the Virtual Endless, while the Necrophages were created by the Concretes. Apparently, both Endless factions felt that weaponized bugs were the way to go.

AFAIK Auriga can be found in evey game right now. Every Let's Play I watched featured it. And I've found it myself.

Oh? In the lore description of the Cravers when you select to play them you can see it says  'Created by the Endless from an insectoid life form' you can somewhat imagine they probably found some Necrophages and decided to mechanize them and reproduce them artificially, but that's just my guess; I don't know the solid lore

Definitely gonna read up on the necrophages though, didn't know they were made my said Concretes. (Never even knew about 'em.).

Necrophages also weren't as heavy eaters as cravers were.

Although they both never could declare peace with their neighbors, functionally, they worked opposite ways. Where a Craver would eventually be suffocated by a prolonged stalemate, the Necrophages thrived off of it. Attempting to quarantine a Nercophage to a part of the map and waiting a bit (my anti-craver strategy in ES1) just means giving them a fuckton of food they could use.

Lore wise, the Nercophages were created by the endless as killers, but it was never specified which kind of endless (It's fully possible the Virtuals dropped them off on Auriga to attack the Concretes). I don't think they're Craver precursors, because their description in Endless Legend states they also function as a disease, implying that an infected person would eventually become a Nercophage. This is further solidified by Ka-Rhiss' story and Proliferaters; Rhiss fully transformed into a Nercophage over the course of the Nercophage quest, and Proliferators made enemy corpses into more members of the swarm.

Cravers just eat anything remotely edible. Meat, vegetables, fruits, plants, people, trees and whatever else organic they can find. ES1 lore stated they could graft foreign limbs onto themselves and cybernetics was something they could opt for if they failed to find an organic replacement, but that doesn't seem to have carried over to this game, along with several other Craver lore bits.

On a different note, I'm wondering if anyone made it off Auriga before it froze over. My money is on the cultists, they seemed to be one of the two factions in that game with ambitions of domination beyond Auriga.

As Lexxx said, great post! I've always loved to read bits of lore on games and reading the lore about the Endless universe just makes enjoying the game better so thanks for that! If this was reddit I'd give you gold.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but,  Can't find Auriga on any of my games?  Three achievements left and I need to find this planet :)

Edit:  Found the answer on Steam, why this planet hasn't spawned for me after all my playthroughs.

I think, canonically, the Vaulters made it off Auriga via the victory quest route. Though, the only evidence I can remember finding is just the fact that the Vaulters were playable in previous Endless games, and several lore bits from those haven't carried over.

I was kind of sad to see Auriga in its frozen ball state. Wouldn't it have been cool if, canonically, the Aurigan races had completed the Wonder victory and kept the planet alive?
