i unlocked the peta-class ship and started fitting it out but noticed every time i put any model on the second weapon slot it auto-counted as putting antimatter? i am no where near  unlocking anti matter and thought i should submit, if you need any more information ill reply.

I assumed this was a feature.

Idea being that it's a defensive/support ship that does very little actual DPS, but can mount a lot of support modules (this currently doesn't actually work well though).

Once you hit era 3 you don't actually need to research the ship upgrade to get it to still do more damage, and you might get some early anti matter thanks to exploration.

but none of my moduels use anti-matter or the ship hull it self so i presumed it was a bug

That's a feature. My second era ship (Cravers) requires Titanium even though there are no Titanium modules on it.

i know, but none of my moduels use anti-matter and it is every moduel i put in that spot and cant use it until i unlock antimatter which overall lowers the combat capability of that ship with a empty slot.

I believe it is a feature to. When you unlock new slots these new slots cost strategic resources. This is in addition to whatever the modules you put into them cost by themselves. Some later tier ships might even have some of these special costly slots to begin with. (but not really sure about that one)

You can think of it as cost of the ships hull in that Era. More advanced hulls cost more industry and even a strategic ressource, depending on Era. Look at the Era 2 offensive ship, it cost 5 Titanium (if I'm not mistaken) if you design it from scratch, without any modules added.

yes but this is the first Peta-Class unlock in tier 2 research, i know the advanced version would probably use antimatter but this is for the basic model, and seems like a bug for its use of the advanced resource at such an early stage of the game.

Oh, it looked like an Era 3 ship, my bad. I only build attacker ships so far

Well under this condition it makes no sense to need antimatter... The only source of Antimatter would be through exploring resouce nodes, but that wouldnt be enough to build a fleet of these ships.

So I'm on your side, it should be a bug.

Yeah probably should not be antimatter then.
