Hello there,

first of all, I'm sorry for creating a new thread for something that has been discussed often in many threads.

After waiting for the next update I began playing EL, I bought it on a steamsale not long ago and I thought that if the experienced players compare ES2 with EL I should try it at least once to know what EL is. I ended up playing it 8h on lowest difficulty (ES 455h mostly on Endless; ES2 38h mostly on normal).

What will follow is the comparison of EL, ES and ES2, based on my experience, what I like and what I don't like:

#the lone systems far away form the star lanes

A funny idea. Harmonizes great with the fact that you have to lanche probes to find other constellations.

#the exporation of planets

-The fact that you have to wait for later eras to explore all the anomalies

+The ability to do this with industry

#trading

+Awesome how you can earn the dust for your gigantic numers of fleets with only your trade income. With this you can play aggressiv, yet money oriented (Feels like always playing as Sheredyn)

#luxury ressources

Collecting kinda like in EL, but with cool permanent effects if used. Better than in EL, not as OP as in ES (Loved the ultra high speed of the ships). I miss the risk of getting blocked by other empires.

#strategic ressources

Feels like EL, if the stock is too low you won't have suddenly tons of warships. In ES you had no problem if there were any ressources, but if you neighbor decided to block your systems you were screwed.

Less risks, less benefits than in ES. I loved the risks you could take.

#ships

Totally EL, yet more costumizable. Personally I liked the ES ships more, you want to annoy the enemy, full defence + recovery it is.

#invading

+Better system than in ES. MUCH better, excited if there will be more content.

#anomalies

Nothing to say here, feels like ES after exploring the planets. There are good and bad ones, nothing to complain.

#minor factions

-EL in Space. I hate them, they are annoying, I wish I could turn them off. I don't care if the Vodyani die of starvation.

#major factions

+completly different gameplays. Well, it's what has been advertised, isn't it?

#minor faction population

Did I mention that I hate the minor factions? This is the second reason. I know that there will be options for the population and I read the improvement list, yet I wanted to say this.

#diplomacy

Again EL in Space, yet not bad. There are some missing ends like force truce, but I like the direction. This is the point where I like the infuence mechanic.

#influence

-And the influence radius of systems is the point where I don't like it. In ES you couldn't fuck completly up if your poeple were happy and reproduced. Now you need buildings if you don't want to get you systems eaten in the 3rd ERA

#technology

-This brings us to the techtree, nothing to say here. What had to be said has been said and the devs answered.

#unique buildings

I don't understand why you would need them, I think ES2 would work great without them. I don't care if they are in the game, or not.

#construction queue

+Better than in EL and ES

#space battles

Boring. Many missing things. EL had a great combat system, ES had a fun rock, scissors, paper game. I believe the devs will do a great job in ES2. (I really loved the card game in ES and the optional techs for these cards)

#quests

Like the unique buildings, not necessary nor misplaced. Just existing, I'd like to turn them off like the minor factions if I want to play without them.

Well, I think thats all for the moment. I have high expectations, ES2 already feels like a great sequel of ES and I believe in the devs.
