Why are people so sure that the Horatio will have a cloning affinity/trait in ES2?

Returning factions like the Sophons or Cravers have underwent pretty significant changes to their gameplay.

I'm not saying that they're not going to have it, but there is no official confirmation of it returning either.

Cravers are almost exactly the same?  They eat everything, they get a huge FIDSI boost while a planet is new, and deplete it over time to worthlessness.  The are the "consume"

Sophons are thematically the same.  They are the "science" race.

Horatio is "clones" race.  To make it anything else when you've got a brand new population mechanic would not only be silly, but against their own lore and theme (at which point why have it be horatio?).

I don't know why people are so sure Horatio will be a major despite Amplitude saying only one human faction.  Seems like a lot of wishful thinking.

They are not humans anymore they are something else.

Also going with the artbook they are supposed to bw 7 feet tall no humans are 7 feet tall on average, they are transhumans at best.

In this folder every major faction has it's own XML file:

SimulationDescriptors[ShipCravers].XML

SimulationDescriptors[ShipHoratio].XML

SimulationDescriptors[ShipSophons].XML

SimulationDescriptors[ShipTerrans].XML       (UE)

SimulationDescriptors[ShipTimelords].XML

SimulationDescriptors[ShipVampirilis].XML  (Vodyani)

SimulationDescriptors[ShipVenetians].XML  (Lumeris)

Minor Factions are ALL represented in the : SimulationDescriptors[ShipMinorFactions].XML

Isn't this proof enough that Horatio are listed as a major faction?

IIRC, an older version of the same file had a vaulter listing too (which I think is one of the minor designs currently in game)  but the way they've listed it now makes it pretty obvious.

Hopefully they're better than the bad joke they were in ES1 lore wise.    The UE had a major revamp that's made them somewhat more interesting so I'm sure Amplitude can do the same here.

When the proof goes against what Amplitude has said, and logic, then yes, people are going to question the validity of an empty XML. I'm not saying 100% that Horatio will not be a major faction, but until Amplitude cements the notion, I'm going to assume otherwise.

SimulationDescriptors[ShipTerrans].XML was empty as well. It is full now after the patch. ;)

And no, there is no proof that goes against what Amplitude has said and/or logic regarding their presence in the XMLs.

I think a lot of people are still in denial that the devs wasted a MF slot on the Horatio over basically, every other faction in ES1.

I don't doubt that they will make it fun to play and interesting, but just imagine what they could have done with the Automatons or the Amoeba if they would have been a MF.

I know what you mean because that's exactly how I feel too. I'd prefer the return of another race instead of the Horatio, but from what I've seen, I can acknowledge that it's a done deal by now.

The only thing I hope for, is for the Devs to really know what they're doing and Horatio gameplay will be unique enough to justify their presence as a Major Faction.

Well, as was pointed out they said just one of the human factions would return as a major faction. And the United Empire were just released, precluding Horatio from taking that title.

I'm pretty sure Horatio, a race of genetically manipulated clones, no longer qualifies as a "human" faction. Even their wiki page disagrees with that notion.

Despite their biological origin, the Horatio do not seem to identify themselves as human.

well, sorry, to re-rail my thread, but who would win? i think Horatio is far-far smarter, but homer is nearly invincible.......what if roger from amarican dad (who has made many, many clone armies...they mostly self-destruct though) got together , who would win this match? .....good lord, what if an army of Ricks from the rick and morty multiverse showed up? terrifying! dont be a jerry
to the victor, the spoils

edit for hilarious quote;
"This recently discovered and highly advanced material is transparent, yet has a hardness rating that rivals orichalcix. While the name has nothing to do with its origin or chemical properties, Horatio thought it sounded nice."
