I'll buy the game soon or later.

I'll like buy a game for my winter holiday and i would like to know if this game after the last patch is playable without bug.

Or if I would wait for another update and buy another game for this holiday time.

thx in advance for your reply.

It really depends on your tastes and your desire to save money. Since ES2 is still in Early Access I think you'd receive a discount when purchasing it, but the game is missing a number of features currently. You can play a full game, but the only victory methods are conquest or score right now; the game only goes up to the fourth (out of five) eras; there are only 5/8 major factions and 9/16 minor factions, and all of these are missing features such as full quests, unique technologies and ships, etc. Further, you cannot yet create custom factions, a feature that is going to be fully implemented when the game is released.

For a full list of update plans, I refer you to this:

I think that there are still some bugs that are unresolved as of the most recent patch (I, at least, am getting a weird screen that shows up when I load or save a game but doesn't appear to have any effect).

Yes, the game is playable, and it can be very fun even in its incomplete state. But if you are only going to buy one game for the holiday season, have options in mind, and are not a hardcore fan of Amplitude or space 4x games, then I would recommend buying a different game.

If you have to ask yourself if you should buy it right now, then the answer is: "Wait for update 2".
You can enjoy the game right now and get a good feeling about the game, but there are currently some bugs (it's still in early access, duh! :D). But more important are the many features which will come and big overhaul like the new tech tree. I can imagine, that this would be a better point to join the game if you are hesitant right now. But the game is already very good, as I can tell so far. :D

Happy holidays!

Buy something without "Early Access" in it.

This one - definitely wait for at least update 2

IIRC when I bought Es2 in EA I had a 25% discount from its release price (and I bought the enhanced - don't remember the name - edition). I I were you, I'll wait for update 2 or 3 and then buy the game if discount is still applied, so you'll have a better version, more close to final game, but maintain the discount.

The early access summary on the steam store says you're getting a 25% discount compared to the release, so it will probably be $40 when it officially launches.  If you're going to get it sooner or later anyway, it's definitely wise to get it during the EA.
