Hey all, so I wanted to talk about the Ecologist Ideology.  It currently seems to me to be extremely hard to get up and running, as well as maintain. In addition the laws are kind of not that great? It also seems to have the lowest number of events that support its ideology. The most common I believe is "The construction of Civilian Ships" which I believe only applies to the Colony vessel for each faction. This would appear to me to be rather unsustainable. In addition, as of now, no faction starts off either with the Ecologist Ideology, or Ecologist minors present on their homeworld, which makes it very hard to achieve. I managed to achieve it on turn 40 with the UE actually, but with very large costs used in the election process.

My second point is to bring up its laws, which appear to be woefully under strength when compared to other Ideologies. For example, it appears to be focused on food production and approval rating, but laws that it has access to are just better in other Ideologies. They're upgrades instead of sidegrades. Example:

Green Fertility: Moderate Support, +20 Food per Anomaly on Planets

Compare that to the religious Law: Bountiful Harvests: Broad Support, +50% Food on Systems

Granted that requires more support than the Ecologist law but it is just straight up an improvement. And religious is a strong Ideology already, possessing in addition to that a 25% Dust gain law, as well as the ability to attack without war, which can be useful.

Honestly, the best law that I see in the Ecologist line up is their starting one, which lets your faction function how the Sowers used to in Endless Space 1. Which is really awesome, but as of right now unlocking the Ecologist party and then building up and maintaining popular support for them is hard due to the limited events which support the ideology. Just my 2 cents anyway.

I think the reason it is so hard to maintain is because of what the ideology is tied to. Focusing on agricultural improvements and exploration vessels is a pretty inefficient way of going about.

They will probably expand on it once the next major update containing the Ecologist faction rolls out.
