The Rebellion of the Deuyivans

So, I picked up a Sophons game, slow, to see how they handle tech (it's still way too fast: even on slow, I'm picking up most techs in 1 turns, or 1-3 turns.  I've only seen one number larger than that, and that's when I was trying to get an Era 4 tech on turn 30 and then it clocked in at 15 turns), but that's not the point of this thread.  The point are the Deuyivans.

I found two instances of them in my constellation, and I must say I've enjoyed these Assist Quests, as it makes it much more eventful to bring them into my empire, and working out how to build their populations are, likewise, interesting.  I've been playing directly with population management, especially looking for a "home for the Pilgrims," but the Deuyivans have proved extremely troublesome, perhaps more trouble than their worth.  See, they always start on gas giants, and they evidently hate it, because they automatically start with a -25 happiness from planet.  Worse, gas giants tend to be extreme, so if it's not a gas giant that produces industry, it really doesn't produce industry, which means I can't really build anything there to make them happy.  And so, like clockwork, rebellion builds, not because I'm especially large or have oppressive policies, but simply because of their nature: they're gas-giant dwellers who hate gas-giants.  This is especially problematic early game, where I don't really have the assets necessary to bring a rebellion to heel, militarily or industrially.

Perhaps they need some kind of mechanic where the off-set unhappiness while on a gas giant.  Otherwise, the only thing I can see to do is to evacuate them off of gas giants until such time as I have the funds to auto-buy stuff that will make them happy.

I made a similar thread in the design form. My solution was to give the Deuyivans and Eyder a trait that ignores unhappiness penalties from gas giants. A better solution (although certainly more involved in terms of development) would be to give each species a preferred planet type in order to calculate happiness, but that would require some extensive reworking to how happiness as a whole currently works.

Either way, something needs to be reworked with both of these minor factions.

This would be a good idea. It doesn't make sense for a species to hate their own homeworld. It would be like Humans complaining  the Earth is too harsh for them to survive.

Agreed, it doesn't make any sense. I could kind of understand it for the Eyder since they were originally the pets of another species, but according to the lore of the Deuyivans they formed on gas giants and dyson spheres. They should not be unhappy occupying  gas giants.
