Hey everyone,

i´m wondering if i´m just not experienced enough with the game, so i´ll just ask for your oppinion on Pirates and to a further extend on the Militarists.

I really like to play with the Pirate option on because it adds to the flavour of the game, but especially in the early game there are so many spawns that you need 1-2 small fleets just to deal with them. This automatically leads to a lot of fighting thus increasing the Militarists political faction immensly. I have not found another way to deal with the pirates, so does this mechanic mean, that playing with pirates i will automatically be forced to deal with strong Militarists in my government?

If so i think the mechanic needs a slight overhaul. As far as i know there is no other optional content that strongly pushes one of the other political factions, just to counterbalance the Militarists.

Does anyone else experience the same problem? If so did you find a solution or do you also think some tweaking is required?

Cheers

Yes, I also had a similar experience with Lumeris (not really Militarist-leaning faction) in the early game. My suggestion would be to introduce a mechanic to pay off pirates with ransom to stop their attacks for a set period of turns. This will add to the Pacifist (appeasement) faction instead of Militarist.

You can always use some propaganda, is has certain costs for sure, but it's the way to deal with politics :)

Well yeah, but that feature is exclusive to Dictatorships, which means only Cravers (who are better of as Militarists anyway) and Horatios can benefit from it in early game.

I also feel like the Ecologist ideology laws are pretty weak, and I've never quite found a use for it on any faction except maybe the Horatio when I need new peeps to splice.

I like the idea to somehow deal with the pirates other than destroying them. Something like Pirate Outposts to interact with (similar to Minor Factions) where you can then choose to fight and destroy the pirates or somehow bribe them. That way i would have more choices to deal with the situation best considering the race i play.

Cheers!
