If you want that tech, you'll have to work for it! (exchange it or negotiate to unlock it, or something)

While you are mentioning it, as Craver the possibilities are limited, I guess? Bear with me here, I am not fully into all of the techs yet and I usually do ignore diplomacy techs as Craver. Can they even trade for tech? An how would that work out, isn't his Craver specific tech?

Or maybe you have even "Forgotten" to announce a feature to come (wordplay intended, I guess you got it... )? How about demandin it when the enemy tries to force a truce on you... so many possibilities.

PS: Endless Legend. Forgotten. Infiltration.

You're right, ships are faction-specific, so you'd not be able to exchange these techs. Cravers can negotiate and do diplomacy, but generally that's only when Pacifists are in power.

really? guess im going to try a pacifist craver game, sound neat......i might try this on normal first .....hmm actually, ill wait til the patch

I haven't had a deep look into the tech yet but from what I could see only ship frames are unique to each faction.  Do the ships have different stats for each level e.g. frigates for sophons or cravers or is it mainly a visual thing? (I assume they are unique).

I hope that every faction remains unique like that in Endless legend as I love the unique style of each faction so that no one feels the same when playing them and hope this comes across in ES2 as well (I'm sure it will :P)

Iirc the next update will add the first iteration of faction specific techs. Check their roadmap on Steamforums (or here?) for details. To answer your question - it is planned to add faction specific tech.

I'll let Kynrael answer your question regarding ship stats.

Hi BoldElf!

The main differences between faction ships are the quantity of slots they have, their distribution, and their functionality. Craver ships will permit more aggressive fittings for their ships, while Sophons are support-oriented.

Hope this answer helps :)

Awesome :D me and a few mates play EL each week can't wait to get them into ES2 as well.  Love the universe you guys and girls have created :D.  Also thanks for such qucik replies :)

In case you are not already aware of it - it was possible to reproduce this issue with several other excluding-each-other-techs by reloading a savegame after having unlocked one of them. I just wanted to check out my alternatives and so I noticed this. Anyway, looking forward to update 3. Best of luck with the schedule.

Is there a way to figure out what each tech does on the tech tree? If not is there a guide or something that can tell us? I am having a hard time choosing between exclusive tech because several seem to do the exact same thing in their description, such as two techs that increase your command points.

Not that it was a gameplay problem... hehehe. Just didn't seem intentional.

@Amplitude you guys aware that currently some of the excluding tech isn't excluding? To be precise the improved hulls for Craver worker/soldier class ships can be researched both.

About the tech tree...uhm... wheel:

Will the colour scheme eventually be changed in a future update? I find that its black + gray colours tend to make it blurry and confusing if you don't zoom in on it.

In ES1 the tech options were actually branches with clear lines connecting the blue/yellow tech dots which contrasted with the very dark background. You always knew what your options were without needing to zoom in on the techs.

Currently I have to zoom in and "spin the wheel" to keep track of where I am with my research.

It's only a mild inconvenience to be honest, but it would be something to add to your "to do list" once everything else is done and you want to focus on polishing the game some more.

That and making ground battles easier to follow when you have thousands of troops clumped so tightly together that you can't distinguish their models are probably the only things I can think of that could use some love.

Oh, nevermind, I did not realize you could zoom in on the tech tree to see what each tech does, my mistake

Well, yes and no. They both increase command points but they also give an additional bonus that is different depending on your choice. For example, both techs give CP, but only one of them gives extra manpower for your ships, while the other one grants them more experience points.
