I'm still listening to it, but you guys touched upon something I thought really resonated with me.

The ship models are by far some of the most beautiful ships I've seen in a space game let alone a 4X. And I spend most of my time auto resolving combat. 

You pick a strategy from the start and it plays out behind the scenes.  It feels like a waste of resources.  I really want to play with these ships in more than just a design mode.  I don't know what the best solution to this is, but it is something that irks me.

I wouldn't mind a system where the cards you choose offer certain in battle abilities with choices to make.  I am not sure how it would work on MP though where 1 player chooses to watch the other player chooses not to.  Maybe the one that chooses not to, the AI tries to select the best choices to make during the combat.. I don't know.  But I agree I want some reason to watch the combat.. because its pretty, but currently just feels like a waste of time.
