Then let me just ask, will the fate of the races of Auriga be revealed at some point? I don't care about today, I just want to know if I should relegate that to a mystery forever, or just for a time.

As a related follow-up, is the preponderance of races on Auriga extremely abnormal? And are there any races that might be related, e.g. Cravers and Necrophages?

Definitely. ENFER, as an AI to an AI. You are the current holder of knowledge about the whole timeline and all the future plans. You are the only one who can tell the truth about the grandchildren of my creators, the ones who I devoted all my efforts to. The descendants of the ancient Mezari, the only cousins of the United Empire and the ones who helped everyone to understand many secrets of this vast and mysterious universe. So, the question is : where are the Vaulters now and how are they doing? I'm looking for them a long time and so do many others.

I don't think somone who had to be told about a distinguishing ability of a major faction knows about obscure space nomads.

@Frogsquadron, I meant that there are 8+ intelligent factions on a single planet, and it seems like the Mezari empire which spanned multiple systems had only a single, or maybe two, species in it. Are some/all Endless worlds that inhabited, or was it just Auriga?

No. Auriga had that many different sentient species on it because it was a bio-weapons/testing/biological sciences testing world where the Concrete faction of the Endless were developing species that could fight the Virtuals.... or for other purposes.

Both the Virtuals and the Concrete had many worlds where they did this kind of shady stuff.

Also the Cravers and the Necrophage are NOT related.

1) The Cravers are biological chimeras composed on many alien species from across the galaxy and cybernetically enhanced to fight and kill their enemies. They were created by the Virtual faction of the Endless and don't have a Homeworld (Husk is just the place they got dumped on and bombarded, and Kovanyuv is just one of many factory worlds where they were built/bred).

2) The Necrophage are native to Auriga and were uplifted/modified by the Concrete faction of the Endless as a bio-weapon to use against the Virtuals or any other enemies. They have no cybernetic enhancements and never left Auriga (although some of their eggs might survive the current ice age, if the main quest for them in EL is cannon).

The only thing these two factions have in common is the fact that they are insectoid and don't like diplomacy. That's it, that's where the similarities end.

Thematically they are very similar, as you pointed out above, and I wouldn't be surprised if one was the inspiration for the other's creation.

I am still curious to know as to the fate of the EL factions, and more on the creation of the EL factions. I will admit that the Endless-verse is very compelling, but I don't have a very completionist bone in my body, so I don't usually play as all of the factions. Thematically though, the Cravers and the Necrophages are very similar, the Broken Lords and the Vodyani are somewhat similar, and the Vodyani and Cultists seems to both be religiously motivated, but to opposite ends. The Roving Clans and the Lumeris have many similarities too.

They aren't direct mirrors, unlike a hypothetical Vaulters faction, or other EL faction, but they do share quite a bit of similarities.

Actually, here's something interesting. It's possible that the Necrophages were bio-engineered by the concrete endless to fight against the Cravers created by the virtual endless.

I'm not sure I understand your second question, but as to revealing the fate of all Aurigan factions/species, actually going ahead and doing that is so... final. Can't pull them out of a hat to surprise people if you say they're all gone, and vice-versa!

We might yet hear of them again... and at that moment it'll be up to Slowhands to pull it off.

First post here, and I can't find a search, so if this has been beaten like a dead horse, apologizes.

We can find Auriga, and clearly she is already dead and post-Endless Legend. I love the lore of the Endless-verse, but what exactly is the canon end-state of EL? Are the Vaulters going to be brought back into ESII, because they were my favorite ESI faction, and I really miss them. Aside from that, what is the state of EL lore-wise and the Vaulters in specific in ESII?

Note that this wasn't to state the fate of the Vaulters, which is unknown, as much as how they fit in with the United Empire, and the universe's lore.

As I mentioned somewhere else, the Vaulter timeline for now is:

The Vaulters are descendants of the Mezari, and so is the United Empire. The success was a Mezari penal ship.

Endless Space lore has been somewhat retconned to be more consistent with developments in Endless Legend.

Mezari => penal ship crashes on Auriga => Vaulters ============================> Auriga is frozen over => ES2 timeline

=========================> Mezari settlers on Raia =====================> United Empire ======> ES2 timeline

More or less.

Officially confirmed by Frogsquadron.

I think right now Amplitude is going in the direction of "one race per faction". Obviously Horatio is an oddity but I think he classifies as a "race" all on his own lol.

So we will likely not see a Vaulter major faction in v1.0. We might see a Vaulter minor faction, like the Pilgrims. If we don't, then there's hope that the Vaulters will incite rebellion and institute Insurgency Academies across the galaxy in a future expansion. :D

The vaulters are the poster boys of the endless games they ve appeared in every single game, im sure they will come back even if its as a minor faction, but i doubt that. Im sure they will come as a major faction in the future. ( this comes from a guy that doesnt like them at all :P).

Speaking as someone who hasn't seen any of his favourite factions come back in ES2, I sympathise.

As for the Vaulters, or any of the other EL factions...their status is currently unknown. They're stuck in lore limbo, some sort of Schrodinger hellhole where players assume that they might be out there in the galaxy, but officially they aren't, but there are some subtle hints here and there, but then again we can't be sure..... and so on.

I know they aren't planned for original release, but I'm hoping at some point we get a bit more closure on EL, like we did with ESI.

Same goes for me... Vaulters are just my favorite faction. Unfortunately, so far they are not officially planned in the release version (at least I have not heard about them). However, I hope they will be added as a DLC later. :D
