Aquatic? They're tree people.

Ah, but it's creative right?

Not really. It's too incoherent with the theme of tree-like beings. It's like saying that seaweed-themed aliens should be completely terrestrial for creativity. They might as well not be seaweed-themed in the first place. It also potentially overlaps with aspects of the coral-like minor faction.

By aquatic theme, you don't have to be restricted to that. Lets say that instead of the usual trees that rely on rain and subterranean pockets of water, they could be like mangrove trees. Because of this, they were inspired more by water creatures rather than land-life. This would influence their designs so that they'll look more aquatic. For example, the ships could have giant fins inspired from the organisms they have in their home planet.

I don't get that last part you said though. There are coral-like minor factions already but there's also plenty of humanoid factions too.

Very flashy.

So now that we got the Unfallen out, I doubt the ship in the OP is actually a Unfallen ship.

Looks exactly like how they are presented in their ship list. It is Unfallen.  It is like a leaf.

That ship is most definitely an unfallen ship. Take a look at the models on the wiki.

It could be an early draft design as the fins have a similar look & feel to them. Though I agree this doesn't look exactly like the ships on the race's info page, so not a final in-game model.

Mangroves are still not aquatic; they require a specific environment that is not available in entirely-oceanic planets. They are more swamp-themed than aquatic-themed. Birds, arthropods and amphibious animals are just as likely to interact with the trees as fish. There is also nothing in any of the voted-on narratives and lore that the Unfallen were heavily inspired by animals, enough to model aspects of their ships after them. However, the narratives and lore do mention things like undergrowth, soil, and the burning of forests. It is clear that the Unfallen are, at least, based on terrestrial trees.

It depends on your definition of "humanoid". Technically, the voted visual design of the Unfallen are humanoids, with arms and legs on a bipedal body. If you mean the primate-kind of humanoid, there's technically only a single race of primates, ignoring the Horatio's cloning and genetic modifications, that is divided into factions.

Maybe it isn't a unfallen ship but a minor faction one

It could be but judging from the fins (which looks similar to the one designed by the community) I believe there are more chances of it being the Unfallen rather than another minor faction.
