So i'm a huge custom faction fan and i was puzzled by this:
Why are some visual Affinity more expensive than others? I can't find any gameplay change between them.
The Lumaris, Horatio and imperials are 10 points, while the others are 5 points.
It makes sense for different faction powers and everything to be balanced differently, but visuals should never have that kind of limitation. If i want to optimize a custom race but happen to want to make them imperial, i'm punished. That feels wierd.
I hope that there is a gameplay function that i am missing, but i searched and tried a few things and couldn't find any...
On that note, here is 1 other quick question and 1 request:
If i pick the Lumaris visuals, what will be the colony ship visuals?
It would also be nice if we could see what the minor populations bonuses are when choosing them as bonus, just a QOL improvement :)
The Lumeris and Vodyani both have a Colony Ship model, it's just never used for their vanilla incarnations. So picking Lumeris visuals will give you that unused Colony Ship as your colony ship.
The Vodyani's Ship-Bound, on the other hand, only has the one Ark. Picking Ship-Bound with a non-Vodyani visual will still give you the Vodyani Arks.
Visual affinities have a cost associated with them because depending on their looks different ships have access to different module slots and a different number of them too. Horatio, UE and Lumeris costing more is basically the devs' way of saying that their ships are better than others. At least that's how I understood it when I asked about it a long time ago :3
